Highway to Hell... Week?

Orangetheory Fitness members flood studios nationwide during Hell Week, a week long series of intimidating workouts that promise to have your heart pumping faster than a scary movie. But what is Hell Week?


Hell Week is a grueling but thrilling series of workouts leading up to Halloween. Hell Week runs from October 24th to October 31st every year. But why Hell Week?


In 2013, the OTF team began designing a new and exciting fall workout challenge inspired by horror movies. These workouts are designed to be much more intense than the average Orangetheory class, including the first ever 23 minute rowing block, inspired by scary movie classic, "Death Row" and a series of rising inclines, inspired by the horror film, "The Hills Run Red".


“The Final Distance Destination”, “Paranormal Leg Activity”, and “The Nightmare from Hell Weeks Past” are all names of different days of Hell Week workouts, inspired by scary movies. Each workout is designed to represent their title. For example, the workout “Paranormal Leg Activity” focuses on working out the legs, including extremely aggressive workouts that will leave you screaming like you just saw a ghost. The title is a reference to “Paranormal Activity”, an American supernatural horror series consisting of 6 films.


For Hell Week 2019, Orangetheory included a new TV series concept, "Hell Week Season 6". The workout titles followed a narrative structure comprised of storylines. Each workout is designed to build on each other, as if you’re watching a series, OTF included a brand new ‘To Be Continued’ workout — a class that starts on one day and picks up the next day - like you’re binge watching a show, OTF hopes their members will binge on Hell Week, completing 5 out of 8 workouts to earn their Hell Week t-shirt.
