In an Orangetheory workout, each person is meant to try and achieve 12-20 minutes with their heart rate in the “Orange Zone” (over 84%). The reason for this is all about "EPOC": Excess Post-exercise Oxygen Consumption. Essentially, the afterburn. As your body recovers post workout, your metabolism stays raised, and you continue to burn more calories afterwards if you've hit that all-important orange zone. Orangetheory has tapped into our current obsession with tracking, from our sleep to what we eat, we can't get enough of self-monitoring. Not only are you able to assess your stats during an Orangetheory workout, but a detailed report will be emailed to you afterward.

So all this new technology sounds amazing, but what does that mean for the actual workout? I promise I'm not being dramatic when I say that the Burn is a complete game changer. Being able to see my stats in real time in front of my face totally optimized the workout for me. I also loved that it had way more than just my calories and Splat points. I can see when I took class, where and with who. I can see exactly how many calories I burned as well as how many Splat points I've earned. On top of that, I can see exactly how many miles I've run, my incline percentage, and speed. This is why people come to a fitness product like OTF … for guaranteed results. I love this! I really love apps or technology that can track how many calories I've burned or even how much I've eaten. Tracking has helped me lose weight and become healthy again.
