Orangetheory Fitness is a 60 minute total-body group workout that combines science, coaching and technology to guarantee maximum results from the inside out. It’s designed to charge your metabolism for MORE caloric after-burn, MORE results, and MORE confidence, all to deliver you MORE LIFE. Each class is designed to achieve certain. Orangetheory uses OT Beat technology and heart rate monitors to track your workouts in real time and provide you the best results possible.

The science behind the Orangetheory workout has everything to do with the heart-rate. The "Orange Theory" is based on the post-exercise oxygen consumption (EPOC) concept in exercise physiology, also known as the "afterburn". If a person mantains a certain maximum heart-rate throughout the workout, they will continue to burn calories up to 36 hours after the workout. All you need is 12 minutes in the orange zone to achieve the Orangetheory "Afterburn". But what is the Orange zone?

Orangetheory focuses of 5 heart-rate zones of intensity during the workout

Zone one is the grey zone and it is your resting heart rate zone. It is the first zone you enter when you turn on your OT Beat heart-rate monitor. Zone two is the blue zone. It is your warm up zone, and can usually be achieved with a low row or jog. Zone three the green zone and is your challenging fat burning zone. It is achieved with a "base pace". Zone four is the most important zone, the "orange zone" This is where the after-burn comes in. 12 or more minutes in the orange or red zone is all you need to achieve the after-burn. You can maintain the orange zone with a "push pace'. The last zone is the red zone. It can be achieved with an "all out" pace. The orange and red zones are very uncomfortable zones which maximize EPOC.

Your OTF coach will help guide you through the five heart rate zones: resting, easy, challenging, uncomfortable and All Out, telling you when to find you base, push harder and when to pull back for recovery.

OTF is not a competition — it’s a community. Together, we’re working toward a better version of ourselves to live a longer, more vibrant life.
